Villa Materada: A Stunning Seaside Retreat

A Homage to Istria's Beauty and Functionality

The main inspiration behind Villa Materada was to create a residential house that not only meets the functional and aesthetic demands of the client but also captures the essence of Istria's natural beauty. The design features a distinctive two-floor hideaway, with a swerved upper floor and large cantilevered spaces that form covered outer areas, offering breathtaking views of the sea.

The villa's design incorporates a combination of materials, including corten, aluminum, wood, and glass. These materials not only add a touch of elegance and sophistication but also ensure durability and longevity.

One of the standout features of Villa Materada is its seamless integration with the surrounding environment. The straight roof of the ground floor serves as a walkable gravel-covered area, while the first-floor roof has a slight angle of 19 degrees. This design choice allows for optimal ventilation and creates a harmonious connection between the interior and exterior spaces.

During the summer months, Villa Materada transforms from a fully enclosed volume to an open, total space. The interior and exterior spaces seamlessly merge, providing a sense of freedom and tranquility. This design concept allows residents to fully enjoy the beauty of the surrounding landscape and the refreshing sea breeze.

The construction of Villa Materada presented its fair share of challenges, particularly in executing the large cantilevered first floor. However, through meticulous planning and innovative construction techniques, the design team successfully brought their vision to life.

Completed in the summer of 2014, Villa Materada has become a symbol of luxury and sophistication in the region. Its unique design, breathtaking views, and seamless integration with the natural surroundings make it a truly remarkable seaside retreat.

Proarh's exceptional design for Villa Materada was recognized with the prestigious Silver A' Design Award in 2015. This award is a testament to the outstanding expertise, innovation, and artistic skill showcased in the design.
